The Birdsall Road project is located along the North Fork American River where the high flood waters caused the road to erode, slipping out in two areas. Both areas are being reconstructed with a mechanically stabilized earth wall system (MSE wall). The wire baskets used are filled with a compacted backfill material, and faced with larger rock for strength. About 580 tons of rip rap were placed throughout the base of the wall and along the trail leading to the river. This project is expected to be complete in January 2020.
